Measles outbreak
Calling all 15-30 year olds
Let’s help prevent a measles outbreak in the future. If you are unsure that you have had two doses of the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps and rubella) please let us know and we will arrange for you to have a vaccination.
Measle Case in Wellington Region
There has been a case of measles in the Wellington Region. Please make sure you are protected and if you are born after 1968 and have not been vaccinated you are eligible for two free doses of MMR which is 99% effective in preventing measles.
National Measles Campaign - focusing on the immunity gap for adolescents and young adults.

We recommend getting the flu vaccine as soon as possible, as winter is the time you are most at risk to become infected with the flu. It takes 2 weeks for your flu vaccination to be the most effective.
Protect yourself and your whānau
An annual flu vaccine is recommended for everyone over 6 months. It is FREE for:
- People aged 65+
- Pregnant people
- Many people with underlying health conditions including those with mental illness or addiction.
If you do not fit into the criteria group above, the cost for the flu vaccine is $25.

As of the 1st February 2025 our consultation fees will increase. See new fees here.
Prescription changes
$5 prescription charge will now be charged to every medicine on new prescriptions.

We are no longer able to send text messages to confirm that your prescription has been sent to the pharmacy. Repeat Prescriptions will be available to collect from your allocated pharmacy 2 working days after your request

Estrogen/estradiol patch shortages 
In Aotearoa, estrogen patches are the only funded option and there is a worldwide shortage. Hormone treatment should NOT be stopped suddenly.
For women on MRT - menopause replacement therapy or transwomen on gender affirming therapy - don’t panic there are alternatives.

Christmas Hours

Te Aro Health Centre will be closed on the 27th and 28th December 2021 and the 3rd and 4th of January 2022.
The clinic will be open for the morning only on the 24th December 2021 and the 31st December 2021.

Flu Vaccinations
Under 65 year+ flu vaccine is now available
The flu vaccine is now available FREE for those under 65y with certain medical conditions. These conditions include diabetes, COPD, asthma if on regular preventor medication, heart disease and other medical conditions, please contact the clinic to see if you are eligible for a free vaccine.
Those under 65y wanting a flu vaccination and are not eligible for a free vaccination the cost is $25.
Flu vaccines are also available for 6 months and above please call the clinic to discuss eligibility and costs.

Free flu vaccines are available for 65 year olds and over. Please contact reception to make an appointment.
2020 deadline arrives for housing Wellington homelessness
2020 was meant to be the year that homelessness ended in Wellington. But despite an ambitious multi-agency plan, advocates say the problem is getting worse every year.

Christmas opening hours
TAHC will be open through out the Christmas period but closed for the stat days which are Friday the 25th December and Monday the 28th December. Closed Friday the 1st January and closed Monday the 4th January 2021. Repeat prescriptions need to be ordered early.
Covid 19 alert
All those with cold and flu like symptoms are encouraged to have a Covid 19 swab. Please call reception and advise of symptoms and you will be given a time to come to the clinic and given a face mask on arrival.
Flu Vaccinations
Free flu vaccines are available until the 31st December for all eligible patients and for those who wish to pay a vaccine. Please contact reception to make an appointment.
